Introduction

                                   

My name is KarCong Leong. I am 20 years old and born in Malaysia. I came to Ireland for 4 and a half years. I am a first-year student at Technological University Dublin, Blanchardstown. The course I chose is Creative Digital Media, which has the most majors such as web development, digital photography, video, and others. The reason I chose this course is that it is very creative. I am a person who likes to think about ideas and learn different types of software. In this course, you can try different skills, which can let you know what you want to do in the future. Another reason I chose this course is that there are more group assignments and fewer exams. This is beneficial to me because it can improve my communication and teamwork with the team. I also think that in today’s society, creative digital media will provide me with good job opportunities in the future.


In terms of my personal experience, I participated in many competitions in Ireland, such as the " The Story of My Stuff " organized by UCD, and the "My EU Election Campaign" organized by the Euroscola.   I was hired by an international charity named "Concern" to make a video called " Concern Hunger Video ". I achieved good results in those competitions. On the other hand, I like to play different types of sports. I also learn music and play percussion instruments. 


I am looking forward to learning film or video, such as digital video technology, digital audio, drama filmmaking because I have the basic knowledge of video editing, I also like to edit video, I am also looking forward to learning adobe software, such as photoshop, premiere pro, After effect, lightroom. This software will benefit me in the future. I hope I can become a video editor to edit many high-quality videos. I think the biggest challenge I will face is that English is my second language but I am improving all the time with this.

Today, I want to talk about the valuable information I found in the study skills video. I found the first thing is the active recalled. Active recall means that you must recall what you know without looking at the answers. I think this technique is very good compared to my previous experience. From my previous experience, I read the text many times because it is the easiest method and there is no pressure but the most efficient way of learning is active learning. Even if you think that active recall is a difficult way to learn, but it will make more effort and will make your brain more active, which will allow you to get better retain knowledge.
